Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday evening. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge follows the sports world shared sympathy for the fighter in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
